20 Tips for Parents to Save Money

Thursday November 6, 2008

Want to save your kids from consumerism? I stumbled on a fantastic article about Preschoolers: 20 Tips for Parents to Save Money at The Dollar Stretcher.

They had some great ideas, some that I hadn't heard of before. Here are a couple of my favorites:

  • Ask the daycare if magazine and book donations can be written off against their activity fees, which usually pay for such items.
  • Get magnetic letters and numbers from the dollar store. Give your child an old cookie sheet as a portable "blackboard" for the magnetic letters. You'll provide hours of educational entertainment for minimal cost.
  • Add batteries to your child's wish list.
And finally, when they scream, "I want it!" or "I need it!," learn to say, "No."

Check out all 20 Tips.
