What could be better than the smell of homemade pumpkin pies, roasted turkey, and hot buttered rolls fresh out of the oven?
Easy Thanksgiving decorations! Not only are they fun and creative, Thanksgiving decorations are a great way to bring the family together for memories that will last a lifetime.
1. Turkey Hand Placemats
What could be more precious than a place mat with your child’s hand print? These place mats make great homemade decorations and are the perfect take home gift for any grandparent. To create a place mat, simply have your child trace their hand on colored construction paper with a crayon or marker. Have your child decorate their “turkey” by drawing eyes, legs, and a gizzard. When finished, place the turkey between two sheets of wax paper and iron. Trim the edges to complete the place mat.
2. Turkey Napkins
Turkey napkins are great Thanksgiving decorations. Not only are they fancy and a fabulous eye catcher, kids of all ages will enjoy making them. Using a fabric napkin, simply fold the napkin into a rectangle. With the short edges to you and the long edges towards the right, Pick up the short edges and fold accordion style. Continue to fold until you have reached three quarters of the way across the rectangle. Place both of your thumbs under the pleats while resting both hands on top. Fold the left side underneath the right side. Pick up the far right corner of cloth-you will have a total of four layers. Bring the corner down toward the left corner of the flat section of cloth. This will create a triangle. Finger press this section and tuck under. Once this is done, pick up your napkin and place the open pleats in an upwards position and the long section downwards. Fan the pleats outwards. This will be your Turkey’s tail.
3. Thanksgiving Wreath
A thanksgiving wreath is a popular and easy Thanksgiving decoration. It is found both inside and outside of many homes and creates a beautiful display. Designing a wreath is not only fun, but inexpensive. To create your wreath, gather any items you will use to decorate your homemade decoration. Leaves, pine cones, ribbons, and small stuffed animals are all great ideas. Simply use a hot glue gun to secure all of the items in place. If preferred, fill in any empty spaces with the flowers of your choice.
4. Table Centerpiece
No table is complete without a center piece. To create these unique, Thanksgiving homemade decorations, simply use your favorite vase to hold an arrangement of flowers. Fall colors, such as orange, reds, and browns, create a beautiful Thanksgiving display. Finish by placing a miniature pumpkin and a few candles beside the vase.
