How to Set up a Babysitting Swap

Paying for a babysitter can be expensive, and it's often hard to find babysitters you trust. We set up a babysitting swap to save money and leave our children in good hands.
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: Indefinite

Here's How:

  1. Gather Friends:

Find a group of parents who are also in need of babysitting. You can find other moms through a local moms club.
  2. Establish a Swap:

We use tickets to swap. You can use anything that will easily track the hours. When we swap, we exchange one ticket per hour per child of babysitting.
  3. Agree on Guidelines:

We met as a group to determine our guidelines. Each parent must fill out an information sheet for their home and their child. When you need a babysitter you send an email to the group. Each person responds on whether or not they can babysit at the time needed.

  1. Make the guidelines simple to avoid added stress.
  2. Encourage your child to get to know the other kids and sitters by establishing a playgroup to accompany the babysitting swap.
